I have read all of Emily Henry’s previous book and really liked them so I was looking forward to another book of hers. Unfortunately I found myself disappointed in this one. It felt a little more “cringy” than her others. Maybe I was just not feeling it or maybe it wasn’t as good.

SOOOooooo…

FMC is a journalist and she is attempting to work with a socialite, who is now in her 70s(?), to tell her life story. It felt very Paris Hilton to me most of the time.

But, surprise, there is another journalist who is up for the job. And the old woman is going to give them both a trial run for a month before she decides who she will let tell her story.

Over a month they spent time interviewing her and also getting to know each other. Oops! They fall in love but the guy doesn’t want to start anything since they are competing for the same job.

At the end of the month, the guy turns down the job but at the same time the FMC is realizing that its been a ploy the whole time for the woman. Turns out that the guy is her grandson and she was trying to get to know him, but he has no idea.

FMC feels like she was getting taken advantage of, told the lady that she wouldn’t write her book, ran away to her mom’s, and started her own project about her dad.

While there she decides to stay with her mom indefinatley to work on this. They guy shows up with the letter that she had sent to the woman to tell her that she needs to tell him the truth. Turns out the woman sent him the letter since FMC confesses her love about him in it. They guy decides to stay in that small town in Georgia with her and start their relationship together.

The end.

I feel like you can tell just from the summary that I wasn’t feeling it (but also because I am at work and read it a few weeks ago.)

I just felt like they moved sooooo fast compared to other Emily Henry books. I feel like she normally lets their relationships build more or there is more history that they can build off of. I’m just not a fan on insta-love things, I need time for things to SIMMER.

Hey, this is the first book they I read that was on my list to read for the second quarter of the year. I am currently reading the cowboy one so I will at least finish it before the quarter is done. Hopefully I can get at least one other one out of the…5 …6? books I put on my list

Okay bye.
